Very attractive proposition if you don't want to worry about making testprints! The price is quite low for a photo printer, especially considering it has ink-tanks instead of cardridges. The Canon G550 / G650 does away with all of that (though the G650 does have a scanner), and offers 6 inks in large refillable tanks. I found that many printers (Canon and Epson) have many features which make them useful as office printers - think a scanner, duplex printing, pigment black ink, a card reader. I wrote a review on the Canon G550 / G650 photoprinter a few days ago, it's in this forum. If you want a ADF, Canon has a TR series, but that fifth dye ink position does make a difference. I have many Canon and Epson consumer level printers. I hesitate to use the word on this web site, but for less than $200, I consider it a bargain.

If you want to start with a less expensive printer, that is fine. I would suggest you should expect to spend several hundred for a quality 13"wide printer.
